UPDATE: please follow the link “marvels cine for hdslr” at the top of this blog for more information and updated profile.
Jorgen Escher has published some new information about the Marvels 3.3 and 3.4 picture styles we will be using on an indie feature length production this year. He explains the differences between 3.3 and 3.4 and my (our) motivations to make changes to the default 3.3 style.
Jorg (for short) has also published a short test movie on his blog and on Youtube.
You can find Jorg here: http://colorbyjorg.wordpress.com. Jorg is an optical reserach engineer with the Fraunhofer institut, Darmstadt Germany and knows a lot about colorimetrics.
Follow that guy! @colorbyjorg
Do I have to “flatten” (desaturate + desharpen) this PS or is it comparable “out of the box” to the the so to speak “RAW” settings ? (all the way down ; all the way down ; -2 ; untouched)
Thanks
Ariel.
You don’t have to. Use it out of the box. You can go flatter one more point, but that is to-taste. I think it’s fine as it is. Jorgen Escher, who has made the style, says that color will changed too if the contrast is dialed to 0.

Hey Martin
Thanks for that…
One more question, if I may :
I have seen at DVinfo.net someone saying that 3.4 is out of beta ? in what way is it a “beta” ?
Is there an official release ? (not that I mind but I do like the use official releases… even
when they are free :-] )
Hello Ariel.
The download version has been automatically updated sometime in february, so you’ve downloaded the latest (non-beta) version.

I’m sorry to bug… but ” http : // mediatube . marvelsfilm . com /marvels_cine_v34beta . zip ” is all I can find…. (here and over at Jorgens)
